Malware warnings

Post by sarahliz on Sat Jul 31, 2010 6:16 pm

Just thought I would mention it.

I have just started getting malware warnings when I select some topics, none of my pc settings have been changed, and I just wondered if anyone else was getting it, and to make people aware just incase something funny is going on.

Thought it was strange as I never really get them.

Specific to this forum?

What exactly do the warnings say and is there any pattern as to when they pop up?

yeah, it's only when I click on a few topics. It's only happened twice so far, but I shall take notice if it happens again and let you know.

It was strange because I looked on one topic, then had a flick around, went back to the same topic and the warning came up.

It's just a general Norton software 'Malware detected - do you wish to proceed - not recommended' type warning. I can send you detailed info if you want it (sorry, work in IT Sad )

I can assure you there isn't any malware on this forum/on this hosting and it is up to date with latest malware/virus procedures, but as you probably know working in IT, there might be an issue with the coding which is making Norton/other software get suspicious, so I will get this looked into ASAP.

Any info could be helpful, if you wouldn't mind PM'ing it to me that would be great.

Will do when it happens again (which it probably won't now! typical!!), just thought I should post it incase something's going on as I've not had it happen before. Smile

I know what it is - it is to do with the recent facebook implementations. Will have it looked into. For now though, there is nothing to worry about, just make sure you click accept/yes/allow/proceed, until I can stop the messages coming up!

Facebook eh, who'd have it?! Very Happy

If you could post when you think it's all fixed I'll let you know if it continues - if that would help any? Smile

Have been assured it is just a coding error and will be fixed soon. Sorry, but your computers have been fooled and are lying to you lol!
