Rules

Post by Matt on Tue Sep 29, 2009 10:10 pm

In order to keep the peace and ensure all members are happy, we are imposing some very basic rules that we ask everyone to adhere too. As the forum grows we feel it is best to have these in place for reference more than anything else - we hope most are common sense!

1) Be considerate toward other members and respect their opinions.
-Of course we don't expect everyone to agree on everything, everybody differs. However please state your opinion in a sensible way, and do not result to personal attacks or aggresive postings.

2) No Spamming.
-We operate a zero tolerance of spamming. Spamming is, put very basically, posting or sending PM's for the sole purpose of advertising. This could be advertising a product, a website, a forum etc. It can also be intentional repeated posting for no reason. You may advertise in the allowed sections, and in those sections only.

3) No copyright infringement.
-The author of every post owns the rights to that post. That includes any images. They also own the rights to anything they put on their profile. Anything else is copyright to me. Cross posting (quoting a post from another forum onto here, or from here to another forum) is only allowed if permission is granted from the owner of the content.

4) Names of individuals that are not forum members should not be mentioned in a derogatory manner.

5) Please note that anybody using the advertising sections must abide by the advertising rules which you can read here: http://www.cavybreeder.com/for-sale-f9/notes-about-advertising-important-t9.htm#10

6) HAVE FUN & POST REGULARLY! LOL OK, not a rule, but we hope everyone loves the forum and recommends it to friends!

Of course this is not a complete list of rules and sometimes myself or a moderator may have to interviene in rare situations if something occurs that is not acceptable, however we don't think this will be common at all! And we are nice people!

Thanks for reading.

UPDATE

Rules revised. Please take note of all rule numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the top post of this topic.

I have already had a report regarding a PM which breaks one of the above rules. This will be investigated in full.

Warning System Imposed
Just to outline, it has been agreed that we will now have a 3 strike
system. First strike and warning issued via PM. Second strike a 1 week
tempoary ban is imposed, and third strike a 2 week ban. The process can
continue in this way but a further 3 will result in a permanent ban
immediately. Warnings are only issued when at least several of the Cavy Breeders Forum mods/admins have agreed that one is necessary. Warnings are issued at the dicretion of CBF mods/admins.

It's important to note that steps can be skipped depending on the severity of the offense!

The system has been imposed for precautionary purposes primarily.

I have had a few people ask me recently about the advertising sections (for sale, wanted, breeder listngs, breeder's websites).

The minimum post limit to post in these areas is 50 posts. Advertising is a privilege for regularly actively posting members, those that come on once in a blue moon just to use the advertising sections and never actually contribute elsewhere, may well have advertising rights removed.

Some of you are saying, how come there are people posting in these areas with a lower post count than this. The post count used to be 10 posts before access is automatically granted. These users had already earned this before the new limit of 50 posts was instated.

Hope this makes sense,
Smile

Please note TXT TALK (apart from the obvious such as lol) is not encouraged on the forum. It makes the posts hard to understand for some members.

Profanity is not welcomed on the forum, either. It's hard to state exactly what level of profanity is accepted and what isn't, for obvious reasons, but please be warned that it will be up to moderator/administrator's discretion as to what is acceptable and what isn't.
